Parking Areas, Yards and Hardstands in Asphalt

Complex access roads, staff parking, delivery yards and industrial hardstands across the Joburg metro. Base built for the actual load, not for the quote.

  • Sub-base depth specified against the vehicles that will use it
  • 13 mm stone where trucks run · kerbing and road marking available
  • Phased so you keep operating — we can lay in sections

Site visit and measure-up before any number is written down.

What we get called about

Rutted yard? Potholes at the gate? Delivery trucks churning it up?

  • The yard has rutted where the trucks turn.

Turning loads are the hardest thing a surface takes, and a base built for cars will not hold them.

  • Potholes keep coming back at the entrance.

The entrance takes every vehicle that visits the site. It usually needs a deeper base than the rest of the area.

  • Water stands in the parking bays after rain.

No falls, nowhere for it to go. Standing water gets into the base and the area fails from underneath.

  • Nobody can tell you what the surface will actually take.

Most quotes do not state a base depth, so you have no way to know whether it is built for your vehicles.

The load decides the build. That is the whole conversation.

The specification

We specify the base against your vehicles, and we write it on the quote

A staff parking bay, a courier yard and a site that takes interlink deliveries are three different builds. We ask what drives on it and how often, then specify the sub-base depth and the stone size against that — and put both on the quote so you can hold us to them.

  1. 01

    Strip and shape

Falls set across the whole area, and drainage planned properly — a large flat area holds a lot of water.

  2. 02

    Sub-base

G5 crushed stone, laid in layers and compacted, deeper than domestic work. Depth is specified against the load.

  3. 03

    Prime coat

MC-30 bitumen prime across the full area.

  4. 04

    Asphalt

13 mm stone where trucks run, 9 mm for light vehicles and parking bays. Laid hot, rolled straight away.

  5. 05

    Edges, kerbs and marking

Kerbing where the edge takes load, channels where water needs a route, road marking and bay lines if you want them.

How it Works

Three steps, and the specification is in writing

  1. 01

We walk the site with you

We want to know what drives on it, how often, and where it turns. That is what sets the base depth.

  2. 02

You get a written spec and a price

Per square metre, with the base depth, the stone size and the sub-base cost stated separately.

  3. 03

We lay it, in phases if you need

Large areas go down in sections so you never lose the whole yard at once.

Why Choose Us

Why site managers keep our number

  • The spec is on the quote

Base depth and stone size in writing, not “we’ll see on the day”.

  • We can phase the work

Lay in sections so the site keeps running, with a way in and a way out at all times.

  • Milling and reuse where it makes sense

Old broken asphalt can often be milled and used in the base, which brings the price down.

  • Kerbing and road marking in-house

Edges, channels and bay lines are the same crew, not a second contractor to chase.

  • We turn work down

If the ground needs civil work we are not set up for, we say so and tell you who does it.

What it costs

What moves the price on a commercial surface

  • Area in m²

Priced per square metre, measured on site.

  • The load

The single biggest factor. Trucks need a deeper base and bigger stone than cars.

  • Existing surface

Broken asphalt can often be milled and reused, which is cheaper than carting it away and buying new stone.

  • Drainage

A large flat area needs somewhere for water to go before anything is laid.

  • Kerbing and marking

Priced per metre and per bay, separately, so you can leave them out.

  • Phasing

Working in sections around your operation takes longer than a clear site.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep does the base need to be for trucks?

Deeper than for cars, and how much deeper depends on the vehicles and how often they come. We specify it after we have seen the site and asked what uses it, and we write the depth on the quote so it is not a matter of opinion later.

Can you work in phases so we do not have to close?

Yes. Large areas normally go down in sections. We plan it with you so there is always a way in and a way out.

Can the old broken surface be reused?

Often, yes. Milling the old asphalt and using it in the base saves carting it away and buying new material. We will tell you on site whether yours is worth milling.

Do you do road marking and bay lines?

Yes, and kerbing too. Same crew, so you are not waiting on a second contractor to finish the job.

What is slurry seal, and do I need it?

It is a thin coat that goes over a surface which is still structurally sound but has dried out or lost its texture. It buys years on an ageing surface for far less than resurfacing. It does not fix a failing base.

How long does a yard or parking area take?

It depends on the area and the base work. We put the number of working days on the quote, and we tell you which of those days are weather-dependent.

Do you do pothole repairs on their own?

We patch potholes as part of a larger job. We do not run pothole-only call-outs — if that is all you need, there are people set up better for it than us.

Who do we deal with — a salesperson or the person doing the work?

James quotes the job himself and Andile runs the lay. You are dealing with the people who will be on your site.
