How long does a tarred surface last?
Fifteen to twenty years if the base under it is right. Laid straight onto soft ground, you will see cracking and sinking inside two or three summers. That is the whole difference, and it is the part you cannot see once the job is done.
Can you do the driveway and the yard as one job?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper — the setup cost is spread over more square metres. They will be built to different depths, and the quote will show each separately.
Is tar cheaper than paving?
Usually yes, per square metre, and it goes down a lot faster. Paving wins on looks and on lifting one section to repair it. We do not do brick paving, so we have no reason to push you either way.
